The Grammys is my favourite Red Carpet fashion event. Not as stitched up as the Oscars, with more way licence to play. This year, I really have only one word: Beyoncé. Seriously girrrl!!! Her body has reached a new level of total perfection. And her opening number, Drunken Love with husband Jay Z, was stupidly hot. She has proved yet again – no one can hold a flame to Queen Bey.
The Frocks that Rocked
As aforementioned Beyoncé - An exquisite creation of a woman in white Michael Costello that showcased her drool-worthy body. Hair and makeup? Perfect as always. Sigh.
Taylor Swift: Cannot stand her music – I just want to be clear about this. However, she was a vision in a sparkle-larkle silver Gucci gown. Her sophisticated, smokier eye makeup and pink pout was a welcome change from her normal black winged liner and red lip. Taylor, you owned it girlfriend.
Rita Ora: Very glamorous and fittingly Grammys attired in metallic Lanvin. Not too revealing but sexy as all get out. Old Hollywood bombshell hair finished off the look beautifully. And LOVED the purple eye-makeup with pink lip. Could this be a make-up trend?
Bonnie McKee: She made a stunning, classic Randa Saloumun strapless blue gown edgy with hair cascading from flaming red to platinum blonde. Classic couture with a twist. Loved!
Chrissy Teigan: Since seeing her in husband’s (John Legend) music video “All of Me” (a total love-story including wedding footage) – it has been quite the girl crush. And she looked delicious in a Johanna Johnson gold number that further illuminated her golden complexion. Favourite hair of the night – sexy and modern.
Stalwarts of The Red Carpet
Madonna and son David cut a very cool duo in matching Ralph Lauren suits. Madonna took it one step further with grills and a cane. A total Grammys veteran, she worked the RC like a boss (well, like Madonna really).
Yoko Ono and son followed suit (pardon the pun) also donning suits and matching top hats.
Cyndi Lauper donned Alexander McQueen, Jimmy Choo shoes and some fantastic gold statement jewellery. Her signature flaming red hair and heavy eye-make-up brought it all together nicely.
The Blokes with the Most
As well as picking up four awards, these guys – Ryan Lewis and Macklemore were my pick of the night in the fashion stakes. This is Grammy dressing right here. Where else could you wear a peacock green velvet dinner suit? Or a hounds tooth suit for that matter? The Graaaammmys!
