Well, it’s over, the finale – the heady time of Red Carpets and swishing gowns; the crowning jewel in the awards season – The 86th Academy Awards. Sigh. This year, as is the custom, it was a more subdued, regal affair in the fashion stakes. But no one, and I mean no one could hold a flame to our Cate Blanchett – she was Red Carpet Oscars ALL OVER.
The Grammys is my favourite Red Carpet fashion event. Not as stitched up as the Oscars, with more way licence to play. This year, I really have only one word: Beyoncé. Seriously girrrl!!! Her body has reached a new level of total perfection. And her opening number, Drunken Love with husband Jay Z, was stupidly hot. She has proved yet again – no one can hold a flame to Queen Bey. It’s VMAs baby! A night where all the cool kids of music can just be their crazy selves. Like Miley Cyrus who took to the stage with her tongue hanging out, looking like a psych-ward escapee while gyrating against Robin Thicke in her underwear. Billy Ray must be so proud. Continue reading
Don’t you just love to see a celebrity out of their natural habitat, swanning around Cannes in their in their “French Riviera” gear? And while some seemed to embrace the punk theme with gutso (Madonna), others (everyone else), added splashes of punk to their couture with flamboyant make-up and creative variations of punk dos. It was a welcome change to red carpet tradition – with the real stars of the night being the make-up artists and hair stylists who truly brought it for this year’s Met Gala – Punk: Chaos to Couture. I’m just going to say it out loud: The Channel Nine girls had it in the bag (or the clutch) this Logies 2013. They did not put a Louboutin clad foot wrong (congrats Penelope McAuliffe and co). Ditto to their coiffed manes and perfectly made up visages (high-five team). So without further ado, behold, my favourite foxies from Nine.
