Well, it’s over, the finale – the heady time of Red Carpets and swishing gowns; the crowning jewel in the awards season – The 86th Academy Awards. Sigh. This year, as is the custom, it was a more subdued, regal affair in the fashion stakes. But no one, and I mean no one could hold a flame to our Cate Blanchett – she was Red Carpet Oscars ALL OVER.
The Grammys is my favourite Red Carpet fashion event. Not as stitched up as the Oscars, with more way licence to play. This year, I really have only one word: Beyoncé. Seriously girrrl!!! Her body has reached a new level of total perfection. And her opening number, Drunken Love with husband Jay Z, was stupidly hot. She has proved yet again – no one can hold a flame to Queen Bey. The Golden Globes, hosted by the fabulous Amy Poehler and Tina Fey was as always quite the night of A-listers scrubbed and preened within an inch of their lives. There were gags, fantastic acceptance speeches (Jacqueline Bisset I’m talking to you) but definitely no Woody Allen. Much to my disappointment, the movie maestro Woody did not personally show to accept his Cecil B DeMille Award. Who does that?
