Well, it’s been quite the couple of days of Red Carpet action with the MTV Video Music Awards AND The Emmy Awards – it’s been literally raining couture. So, without further ado, here are the frocks that rocked and just a few that…didn’t (actresses in big old ball-gowns who shouldn’t be in big old ball-gowns –I’m talking to you).
Let’s just start with The Emmys – SO much fashion, so little time.
Sofia Vergara – I want to be you. How can one person be blessed with such abundance in the hot stakes? It’s criminal! Even though we’ve seen this silhouette on her a million times, she looked so beautiful in a white figure-hugging (hello) Roberto Cavalli gown with silver details and perfectly accesorised. So loving her hair right now!
Julie Bowen – Wouldn’t you HATE working with Sofia everyday. And even worse, hitting the RC with her! Kill me! However, she held her head high in this incredible printed Peter Som number. So chic! And her coiffed bob and glamorous make-up – best she has looked.
Power Couple: Camilla Alves and Matthew McConaughey – these guys are just stupidly good looking. (And, yes, a smile certainly wouldn’t go astray, considering how hot and rich you both are.) Camilla looked jaw droppingly elegant in a Zuhair Murad gown, paired with Aldo clutch and Nail Lane jewellery. But it was the tall glass of water on her arm that really made the outfit – Matthew, dashing in a Dolce and Gabbana suit.
Kaley Cuoco looked fresh and beautiful with her pixie cut and bear shoulders showcased in a stunning red and pink tulle Monique Lhuillier. She really owned this gown.
Yet here were many stars of the night who got it waaay wrong. A lot of ball-gowns on actresses who are not ball-gown types. And then there was Lena Dunham. A pink shirt tucked into a multi-hued pink, floor-length tutu by Marc Bouwer. Um…I. Have no words.
Moving on to the VMAs. And does anyone own a Red Carpet at a music awards show more than JLo? Another hottie in her 40’s (it must be like the hottest age. That’s what I keep telling myself) As always, never shy to show off that banging body which was poured into a spangly Charbel Zoe number.
If anyone can pull off a hot pink pantsuit – it’s the super cool Gwen Stefani. ANOTHER sexy, confident woman in her 40s! She looked sexy and playful in this pink peplum top and pants from her own Lamb Couture label.
The young Kardashians brought an air of sophistication back to the RC of the VMAS in elegant, black ensembles. Kim also looked good, but seriously, must we see her rack ALL THE TIME. Put it away Kim.
And then was our ex-stripper friend (I had NO idea that she was a stripper. Knock me down with a feather) Amber Rose who looked utterly tragic in this poor excuse for an outfit. Put some clothes on girls!
Well, Glams, like I said, so much fashion, so little time. Until the next Red Carpet…
