Met Gala Ball 2014

No other Red Carpet event sends me into a fashion induced rapture like New York’s annual Met Gala Ball. This year’s aptly themed Charles James: Beyond Fashion, was in fact just that – beyond.Costume Institute Gala Benefit celebrating Charles James: Beyond Fashion, Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on May 5, 2014

I’m going to start the proceedings with the gown that I would have worn had my invite  arrived in the mail (Australia post…seriously). Italian goddess, Monica Belucci blew my mind in red lace Dolce and Gabbana complete with matching cape. Drooool. Only very people on the planet can look this hot in red lace. And the fact Monica could make a paper-bag look sexy, it’s a no brainer.Costume Institute Gala Benefit celebrating Charles James: Beyond Fashion, Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on May 5, 2014

SJP is really born to attend the Met Ball. It is so her bag. And each year, she completely nails it. Resplendant in this magnificent Oscar de La Renta black and white ball gown – she looked like a vision fron an old Hollywood movie. Imagine wearing a dress like this? And don’t even get me started on the train…Costume Institute Gala Benefit celebrating Charles James: Beyond Fashion, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, America

Dita Von Teese looked every bit of an old Hollywood bombshell in figure hugging Zac Possen and Van Cleef jewels. I loved the champagne colour of this gown, with its fishtail and red detailing. So va-va-voom. Costume Institute Gala Benefit celebrating Charles James: Beyond Fashion, Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on May 5, 2014

Now, as you already know Glams, I am very partial to a bit of Naomi Campbell. And I loved this sexy yet demure (a first for Naomi) looking Gatsby number by Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy. Her body looked utterly insane. Ah Naomi…sigh. naomi-campbell_210914715366.jpg_gallery_max

Blake Lively – wowser! This delicious Gucci Première silk chiffon blush gown, beaded to perfection with plunging neckline, was incredible. And, hello, brides to be – do I hear wedding gown?blake-lively-ryan-reynolds_210912843918.jpg_gallery_max

Queen Bey was a classy act to follow in another Gatsby inspired Givenchy Haute Couture, gown by Riccardo Tisci. A seductress as always, with just the right amount of  flesh peeking through luxurious, beaded silk. Loved the netting over the eyes. Jay Z also looking the part in a Givenchy dinner suit. These two…

Karolina Kurkova was stunning in a Marchesa masterpiece. She looked so beautiful – reminiscent of a young Grace Kelly from the movie ‘High Society’. This gown was art – the hand-painted print, colour, cut and teamed with Harry Winston jewels – an absolute stand-out.Costume Institute Gala Benefit celebrating Charles James: Beyond Fashion, Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on May 5, 2014

Charlitze Theron, regal in black and white Dior with Fred Leighton jewels, also looked the part. So fiercly elegant. And let’s be honest – the cape gets me each time. The Sean Penn accessory? Not sold. I’m just…not sure.Charlize-Theron-Sean-Penn-Met-Gala-2014

And to wrap up my picks of this most prestigious fashion event, I loved the frou-fra and whimsical girliness of Tabitah Simmons in an over the top Dolce and Gabbana gown - a floral fiesta with an impressive train. So grandiose. So Met Gala 2014.Costume Institute Gala Benefit celebrating Charles James: Beyond Fashion, Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on May 5, 2014
